Our workstations are built with a laser focus on dependable high performance reliability instead of unreliable “bleeding edge” raw performance.
Because when your game crashes after playing non-stop for 3hrs it’s an inconvenience, but when your program crashes after rendering a video for 3hrs it’s a disaster.
Workstation Design principles
Workstation PCs are the most tailor made of all our PCs. However no matter what we are building we always hold the following core set of system design principles.
// RELIABILITY OVER “BLEEDING EDGE” PERFORMANCE
- When designing a high performance system its very easy to fly too close to the sun in terms of raw performance. A high end system with exotic components can be a nightmare long term in comparison to a high performing system using more common “mainstream” parts.
// SYSTEM DESIGN FOR Support & GROWTH
- Workstation PCs need to be in use for many years longer than a gaming PC. As such it’s really important to choose a technology platform that is going to have manufacturer support for many years, instead of the typical consumer 2 year upgrade cycle.
// NO UNICORN HARDWARE
- There is no point designing a system with exotic, next gen, bleeding edge parts. As the saying goes … Its called the bleeding edge because you are going to get cut. The parts used in your workstation grade PC need to be readily available and easily replaced to get you back online ASAP.
// Productive data management
The ideal data management setup for workstations is 3x crazy fast NVMe Gen 4 drives.
- 1x 1TB drive for the OS and programs
- 1x 2TB drive called “Projects” for all the current jobs / concepts in the workflow.
- 1x 2TB drive to use as a storage space for completed projects or the destination for rendering content.
- This setup allows data to flow freely in a single direction to the final destination, limiting typical data “bottle necks” where a drive is read / writing to itself (effectively halving the speed)

Don’t pay more for an extended warranty! as all PCGAMER gaming computers and PC workstations are automatically covered by our outrageous extended part warranty.
We will honour the individual warranties on the parts in your system that may extend beyond the standard 2 year system warranty.
For example parts like power supplies and motherboards often have 3 year part warranties. Should anything fail we will hunt down these parts for you.
+3 years of viable upgrade options
One of the guiding principals we use in every PCGAMER gaming pc is to ensure your new gaming PC has at least 3 years worth of upgrades that are readily available.
This means as your experience with PC gaming grows your system can grow along with you.
When we say upgrades… we mean real upgrades, like dropping in a more powerful CPU, doubling your RAM. And obviously the ability to add more storage and upgrade graphics.
on site service & repairs
At PCGAMER we have an “open workshop”, which means you can see our PCs being built in store, by real experts.
Just like a car mechanic we can service and repair your PC in our store on-site.
Unlike JB HiFi, Harvey Norman or Officeworks We aren’t going to “send your PC away” for weeks at a time. We offer real over-the-counter support the way it should be.

Picking your PC up in person is an excellent way to get some awesome tips and tricks from us on how to setup, maintain and keep your new gaming PC in peak condition.
